Our Scope

Occupational Therapy encompasses mental and physical components...
Occupational therapy practice is rooted in mental health and the scope expands beyond the physical, addressing a woman’s psychosocial health concerns. This augments the care of other medical practitioners who focus on physical health and medical stability when addressing the needs of women with breast cancer.

Key psychosocial concerns that impact daily life include body image, sex and intimacy, impact of lymphedema, and the fear of cancer returning. These factors influence functional participation in activities of daily living, impacting the full scope of occupational engagement.
