Welcome to EmpowerOTs â€‹â€‹

Addressing both the physical and psychosocial impact is key to helping women with breast cancer achieve an optimal functional recovery. This website features information and firsthand interviews with occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs), oncologists, psychologists, and other specialists with unique experience in addressing the psychosocial needs of women with breast cancer. The goal is to equip OT professionals, and the broader medical community, with resources to support patients while enhancing awareness, confidence, and skills in addressing the psychosocial needs of women with breast cancer.

The Mission: To empower occupational therapists and inform clinical practice, through evidence based information, to address psychosocial challenges faced by women with breast cancer

EmpowerOTs is dedicated to educating occupational therapy practitioners on the psychosocial challenges faced by women with breast cancer and providing them with practical resources to offer support. This website is a streamlined evidence-based platform for clinicians, emphasizing holistic care.

Why it matters:

  • Mental and physical components of health are intertwined, working together to achieve a holistic approach to overall well-being. Addressing both is essential for quality of life.

  • An evidence-based space is needed where occupational therapy practitioners and the medical community can readily access information to advance their practice and effectively address the psychosocial challenges faced by women with breast cancer.
